Why Volunteer?
Jolene – “I volunteer because I like helping the animals in a time where they are needing the extra love. I leave feeling fulfilled and the work doesn’t feel like actual work because it brings joy. I also like bringing my children and seeing them being able to be independently clean cages and be excited to do so. They look forward to seeing and petting all the cats and talk about them by name at home. Volunteering at Wet Nose is very rewarding. My girls like going and showing love to the cats especially because some of our current house cats are not as nice as some of those at Wet Nose!”
Kim – “I love volunteering here at Wet Nose. I love my job. I chose to run the animals to the Le Mars and Sioux City vets. I look at it like this. As soon as we get these animals healthy, the sooner they can get adopted. All these animals have a story some we know and some we don’t. But every animal deserves to have a loving home and family. Lola and Angel work very hard to take these loss souls in and get the help they need. I love to walk in and see the card taped on their kennel, ‘I’m adopted!’ It’s all worth it! I myself have adopted a little boy after I had to put down my 23 year old Benjamin Jay. I found myself at Wet Nose looking for a new kitty. I’m happy to say Oliver Jay picked me. He is a gray tabby. He has brought so much fun and love and patience to our home. And yes he loves his Mom, me, more than ever. It sometimes takes a lot of love and patience to help these animals gain back their trust in people. It’s hard to see these dogs and cats looking so sad and scared. Spend a few hours a week and meet and greet these wonderful little souls. Your time and help is so important to every animal that walks through Wet Nose.”
Caitlynne – “I volunteer at the shelter because all animals, whether they have a home or not, deserve a good meal and fresh water and love no matter what!”
Angie – “I stumbled upon a cat that seemed to have been lost or needed a home. I brought him to Wet Nose and I right away realized this is the perfect place for me! Walking through the shelter and seeing the cat stick their paws out for attention and seeing all the happy dogs wagging their tails for extra love really tugs at the soul. My biggest weakness is the animals that come in horrible condition. Nothing brings greater joy than seeing the sick ones get better day by day and seeing them find their loving homes. I volunteer at Wet Nose to be there for the animals as much as they are there for me. (Did you know spending time with animals reduces stress and improves your mood?)“
